In November GE sold their metering business to Aclara, now Aclara look to capitalise on this and add Tollgrade’s grid sensors to their portfolio. On Thursday the St. Louis based company announced it was going to be acquiring the smart grid business from Tollgrade who have customer on three continents
The full details of acquisition including the price and terms have not been disclosed yet. Tollgrade who started as a tech startup will still retain a portion of the business, noting in their press release that they will still focus on its “traditional broadband business”
Aclara have not provided details yet of how they intend to integrate the Tollgrade technology with their own smart metering business.
